Everyone, even the most stable type of wood is not indifferent to changes in humidity, temperature and other external factors. Also, we recommend few weeks of self-stabilization the wood after all raw working (for example, after band-sawing the shape of a neck), wood need to free all the tensions that have arisen over the years. Then, you can make precision work. It is good practice to receive very stable neck in a ready instrument.

Khaya ivorensis is an African variety of mahogany from the Meliaceae mahogany family, ideal for use in guitars, mainly as a body and/or neck. Compared to Honduran mahogany, Khaya ivorensis mahogany is slightly harder, and the natural color of the wood is shifted from yellowish-brown to reddish-brown tones. It is often more visually interesting, depending on the method the wood is cut, characteristic shimmering stripes or clear rings appear in the wood, or contrasting overgrowths... unless there are knots :) The natural habitat of the Khaya ivorensis tree is mainly tropical West Africa. Tonally, the wood sounds warm, strong and harmonically rich, the sustain is long, and the wood harmonizes perfectly with all varieties of maple, rosewood and ebony. This is a "musical" wood, quite easy to work with, but you need to be careful because it is easy to split off large pieces of wood when cutting or milling. Note: In addition to the ivorensis variety (average density approx. 545 kg/m3), there is also the senegalensis variety (average density 770 kg/m3, originating from dry areas of Africa, clearly too heavy for bass and guitar bodies, if without weight relieving chambers). Khaya wood, like all mahogany, requires proper filling of pores and protection against weather conditions, e.g. during the lacquering process. The red stain under the clear coat looks amazing. Great wood, powerful sound, we recommend it.
