As always when working with wood, we recommend domestication of a blank at the place of destination for a period of several weeks. Everyone, even the most stable type of wood is not indifferent to changes in humidity, temperature and other external factors.

The Caucasian wingnut occurs naturally in Transcaucasia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Turkey and Iran. It mostly grows in wet areas along rivers and in flood plains. About a use in instruments, Wingnut wood is not used for a simple reason: this wood is nearly not available, and as it is, its price quickly cools down the enthusiasm for its use. The sound of this wood is analogous to the sound of the American black walnut, i.e. ... In acoustic guitars it is neutral (it does not warm the sound like e.g. mahogany and does not give such hardness as e.g. maple). Used as a top in electric and bass guitars (or as a body or part of a body) it affects long sustain, the generated sound is solid, powerful, not as "soft" as in the case of mahogany, and not as sharp/hard as maple (especially hard maple varieties ). If you think that mahogany warms the sound too much, and maple is too sharp and hard, then Caucasian walnut will be a perfect choice. It fits acoustically with ebony fingerboards (e.g. walnut body, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard). Caucasian walnut requires protection. Finishing with a high gloss clear lacquer (necessarily filling the pores of the wood!) will give an amazing look and 3D depth. An alternative oil finish without filling the pores of the wood is a noble classic with a velvety texture pleasant to the touch. We recommend it for unconventional instruments.
