for the purpose of guitar fingerboard or other instrument under which you can use an item shown. The pictures show this particular piece of wood. Pre-sanded surfaces, ready to use. Dimensions for own purposes to be carried out independently. As always when working with wood, we recommend to domesticate the wood at the place of destination for a period of several weeks. Everyone, even the most stable type of wood is not indifferent to changes in humidity, temperature and other external factors.
Wood quality description: Rosewood Guitar Fingerboard Blank, AA – medium quality
Wood for guitar fingerboard, without any defects in most cases (unless the description of a specific blank states otherwise), mostly medium or high density, mostly dark colour with violet or brown or black lines, and/ or quite straight fiber runs along the blank (but ring spaces not as ecual or narrow as in AAA). AA – medium quality blanks are clearly better quality than A – basic quality blanks, and they are the most commonly chosen for fingerboards, because of the good quality – to – price ratio.

Other names: Indian Rosewood, East Indian Rosewood, Palisander
Very popular and classic wood, used for years mainly as fingerboards in electric, bass and acoustic guitars, also as a backs and sides in acoustic instruments. As the name implies, it mainly comes from India, but also grows and is sourced in Sri Lanka and in Indonesia. Tone of Indian rosewood is referred as warm, but it has enough high frequency, when needed, and it generates rounded, gently sounding highs and is perfect for blues, rock, or universal instruments. Wood is relatively inexpensive (or rather it was), however, high-end pieces are priced comparable to black ebony. A piece for a fingerboard can cost 15 USD, but it can also cost 50 USD. The appearance of Indian rosewood likes to vary widely. Depending on the conditions in which the tree grows and part of the tree, a wood can be almost black with dark brown stripes, but most often it has a characteristic brown colour that goes into dark violet, sometimes with lighter beige-yellow-red accents / stripes. It is quite easy to work, beautifully smells, and because of the high content of essential oils does not require lacquering or oiling, after sanding it is velvety to the touch. Wood is strong, hard, abrasion resistant, the pores of wood are quite large and wide. The Indian rosewood is a wonderful and magical wood that we have heard in music for generations.
Unfortunately, the long-term uncontrolled mass felling of trees of this species led to the far-reaching disappearance of Indian rosewood in nature, so it was decided to include this species in special protection and enter it on the list of endangered species (CITES). We sell the Dalbergia latifolia species only to European Union countries, please note that any crossing of the EU border of the instrument with even a small element made of this wood from / to the European Union requires special permits of the Ministry of the Environment or the equivalent of this institution in a given country. Lack of permits results in requisition of wood or the entire instrument by customs.
