As always when working with wood, we recommend domestication of the product at the place of destination for a period of several weeks. Everyone, even the most stable type of wood is not indifferent to changes in humidity, temperature and other external factors.

That’s the wood! Pearwood, as all fruit-woods, is used very sporadically in the guitar making and the musical instrument industry, which is mainly due to the fact that it is problematic to obtain. Pear trees are usually small, twisted, the wood structure is very often poor quality almost in a whole tree trunk. Physical properties, i.e. high density of approx. 700 kg / m3 and a compact structure without wide/deep pores, allow it to be used as a substitute for ebony, of course, after appropriate dyeing in black. The wood is visually similar to basswood or maple, colour is light, yellowish-cream, often pink-red discoloration occurs, when steamed becomes even more pink-red. In terms of sound, it is something between maple and mahogany, the sound is not sharp like e.g. ebony, maple or ash, but also not fat sounding as in the case of e.g. mahogany. Pear wood enriches the basic sounds with components similar to those generated by rosewood, ie the so-called warm and velvety highs. Pear is a very musical wood, we recommend it for bodies, tops, necks and fingerboards.
