Intended for a  guitar body. The pictures show this particular set of wood. Sanded surfaces, dry, ready for use. Dimensions for own purposes to be carried out independently. As always when working with wood, we recommend acclimatizing the product in its intended location for a few weeks. Even the most stable species of wood is sensitive to changes in humidity, temperature, and other external factors.

About wood roasting

The wood, after a period of about 2 years of seasoning, was subjected to a process of slow vacuum drying to a moisture content of approx. 7%. After drying, it was roasted in an anaerobic chamber at a temperature up to 170-190 °C. This treatment is a technically accelerated process of long-time aging of wood, which is aimed at increasing the hardness, stiffness and stability of wood. In addition, the hardened wood structure and closed pores make it difficult to absorb moisture from the air, a moisture is not indifferent to any wood. This is particularly important in the case of maple wood in various varieties, which is highly unstable in changing conditions (temperature, humidity). The side effect of the baking process (for some, a great plus) is the darkening of the wood and the characteristic smell, reminiscent of roasted coffee grains. The darkening and the smell are more intense, the higher roasting temperature is. About the tone, roasted wood theoretically only gains, and whether it really is ... this one will find out who will check it. Rosted wood is especially recommended for necks and soundboards in musical instruments. We liked very quickly the baked wood in the Woodforguitar. "Roasted wood"… this is it.

Ayous wood comes mainly from the tropical part of West Africa, it is very sporadically used to make the bodies of musical instruments, mostly electric .... strange, but it is. The wood is soft and very light, its average dry density is around 365-380 kg / m3. The natural color is mostly pale yellow, after polishing, the wood is covered with a natural satin glow, and when subjected to the aging / baking process, it often looks like mahogany. Wide and deep pores need to be filled before "mirror-like high gloss" finishing, as in the case of, for example, mahogany or ash. In touch, in weight, in reaction and response to tapping ... if you close your eyes, we feel it like a good quality spruce. How will this wood behave sonically in an electric guitar or bass? We do not have too much data and many experiences with ready-made instruments in which this wood was used, but everything indicates that the Ayous should behave in a similar way to the alder, i.e. universally, without emphasizing any particular frequncy. Universally, but positively, live universally, not flat, bland, without emotions… However, to make things more straightforward, some sources claim that Ayous behaves more like mahogany sonically (emphasized lower registers, warmer sound). Either way, it's a very good option for a lightweight guitar or bass body. We do not recommend it for the first instrument, but for the next one/s. A positive surprise may be the performance of a Strat type guitar with the Ayous for the body, light sycamore maple for the neck and rosewood for the fingerboard. It can be a light and sonically rich guitar, which will be instrument number 1. There is never certainty, the chance is big, it's worth trying.
