Swamp ash is a term for wood that has been obtained from ash trees growing in swamp areas. After drying and seasoning, swamp ash is significantly lighter than all other varieties of ash from outside the swamps. It retains the characteristics of ash, such as high hardness, wide and deep pores, and its significantly lower weight makes it suitable for use in guitar and bass bodies. The sound can be described as lively, hard, with emphasized mid and upper registers (especially with single-coil pickups). The wood reacts quickly, so-called percussively, in Tele-type guitars it allows for a deep characteristic 'twang'. Finish... it would be a sin to cover such a wood with opaque varnish. Before clear coating, it is necessary to fill the pores. Be careful with a stains, swamp ash doesn’t absorb stains so easy, perform tests on waste first.
